Books on Wheels

If You Can’t Get to the Library, We’ll Bring the Library to You

Books on Wheels is a joint service provided by The Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library and the WML Reference librarians. The purpose of this program is to provide library materials to Westfield residents who are unable to get to the library because of a permanent or temporary illness, injury,or personal situation. Everyone can enjoy the library even if they are physically unable to get there.  Signing up for this wonderful service is easy!

  1.  To get started, call Jennifer Schulze, Head of Adult Services, at 908.789.4090 ext. 4122. She will set up a library account, or update information if you already have an account. A caregiver or family member may call on behalf of the person who needs this service.
  2. Next, a Reference librarian will call you and ask for your preferences.  You can provide favorite genres, authors, and titles, and the Reference librarians will gather titles based on those preferences.  The librarians can choose Large Print books, Books on CDs, music CDs, magazines, and even DVDs.
  3. Volunteers from the Friends of the Library deliver these materials every other week to your doorstep, while returning any previously borrowed materials. There are no due date slips nor overdue fees when you use this service.

So let us bring the library to you! This wonderful service lets you experience the joys of reading, watching, or listening to your favorite titles, and keeps you connected to our amazing library.
